Gender

For generic content on gender, referring to the range of characteristics that a society defines as being masculine or feminine. Gender describes the state of being a woman, man, girl or boy in a particular culture, at a particular point in time. Intersecting with age, sexual orientation and gender identity, gender is connected to roles, behaviours, opportunities, the exercise of human rights, power, the valuing of contributions of women and men, and both access to and control of resources.
