Résumé
The WFP / Mastercard Foundation (MCF) Partnership ‘Strengthening food systems to promote increased value chain employment opportunities for youth’, particularly women, aims to support employment through strengthening local food systems focusing on enhancing efficiency, reducing post-harvest losses, increasing access to reliable and remunerative market opportunities, promoting value addition, and introducing innovative digital solutions. The VCA conducted in Nigeria under the MCF partnership targeted sorghum and millet value chains with focus on identifying opportunities for supporting employment and engaging youth and women in commercial activities to enhance post-harvest practices, promote and upgrade processing and value addition, and optimizing SHF productivity through increased cropping intensity by inclusion of soyabean, groundnuts and horticulture in the current cropping patterns.
