Summary
This market systems analysis provides in-depth information about the supply chain, and market demand for dry chili peppers in Cox’s Bazar District of Bangladesh. Bangladesh does not have self-sufficiency for dry chili peppers, with approximately half of the market demand met by imports from India. Import disruptions lead to price increases as supply cannot meet the local demand. It is recommended that WFP purchases alternative chili varieties which come from the northern regions of Bangladesh and have lower prices, as well as monitor the quality of purchases due to poor storage processes.
