Summary
A quantitative macro analysis of the global drivers of international migration examines the links between armed conflicts and food insecurity on international migration. The analysis also explores the impact of food insecurity and international migration on the likelihood and intensity of armed conflicts. Focus group discussions with migrants and refugees in Greece, Italy, Jordan, Turkey and Lebanon were also convened. These discussions provide first-hand accounts regarding the decision-making process to leave and provide valuable information on the situation in countries of origin, the triggers for migration, routes taken and future intentions. To validate the data collected from focus group discussions, WFP carried out household phone surveys among refugees in Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey.
