Résumé
In settings characterised by conflict and violence, WFP must act deliberately to understand the possible positive effects of interactions between its interventions and dynamics of violence in the given context. This study highlights how doing so is necessary for WFP to put in place strategies that reinforce the potential positive influences of its programming on the factors driving young people’s engagement in violence while also minimising any negative effects. This may fall short of explicit involvement in building peace, which is beyond WFP’s mandate, but it elevates the agency as a responsible actor and partner in changing young people’s lives where violence is a key driver of food insecurity and weakened livelihoods.
