In 2023, WFP reached over 690,000 people with direct food assistance and livelihood interventions and indirectly benefitted more than 1 million people with assets, training and services, including 130 frontline responders of the Civil Protection and Fire Department. Food insecurity in Venezuela remains interlinked with economic challenges. Despite some economic improvements, the low purchasing power of households in the most vulnerable conditions continues to impact their access to food and other basic services. According to the Humanitarian Response Plan, 5.2 million people in Venezuela need humanitarian assistance, of which 2.5 million need food and nutrition assistance.
