Summary
More than 200,000 refugees currently live across five camps in and around Dollo Ado in the Somali region of Ethiopia. Despite considerable improvements over the years, the area still faces the challenges of arid climate and geographical isolation from the rest of the country, exacerbated by conflict at the Somali-Oromia regional border north of the camps. Average rates of global acute malnutrition (GAM) across the camps remain above the UNHCR acceptable threshold of 10 percent, though prevalence decreased from 22.4 percent in 2016 to 15.3 percent in 2021. This summary report presents findings from the analysis and a discussion of its process, methodology and limitations. It highlights recommendations and priorities identified by stakeholders. By identifying and contextualizing new findings, the FNG analysis contributes towards building consensus around a vision and a path forward for improved nutrition in refugee settings in Ethiopia.
