Resúmen
With its policy of openness to refugees, Chad welcomed more than 525 228 refugees towards the end of 2021, most of whom are from Sudan (71.2%), followed by the Central African Republic (23.1%), Nigeria ( 3.8%) and others (1.9%). The Joint Assessment Mission (JAM) was undertaken in all refugee camps and host community villages between 12 and 22 November 2021, five years after the last JAM in 2016. The assessment targeted socioeconomic status in the Sudanese, Central African and Nigerian refugee camps The objective of this JAM is to examine the current status of refugees and that of the host population in areas around the camps in the various regions of the country, and to assess the combined effects of the multi-sector assistance provided by different methods since 2017 by the WFP, UNHCR and other humanitarian and development partners who have intervened in refugee-hosting areas The JAM is primarily concerned with assessing the adequacy of WFP and UNHCR programmes, identifying appropriate interventions and consulting with various stakeholders to provide strategic direction for joint programming for the next three years (2022–2024). The JAM 2021 was conducted to provide specific understanding on five key themes including food security and nutrition; socioeconomic status, livelihoods and progress towards self-sufficiency; targeting of assistance; protection and accountability, and coordination.
