Summary
In 2018, WFP launched an innovative programme to boost resilience across the G5 Sahel countries (Burkina Faso, Chad, Mali, Mauritania and Niger). For the first time, an integrated package of activities—combining Food Assistance for Assets (FFA), school feeding, nutrition, capacity strengthening and seasonal support—is implemented across the region and at scale in close coordination with governments and partners. This report shows how resilience-building at community level is bringing degraded land back to life and strengthening food systems, getting children back to school, investing in healthy diets for mothers and children, creating jobs for the youth and building social cohesion throughout entire communities.
