Summary
The World Food Programme Rwanda Country Office conducted a market assessment in October 2017, to understand beneficiary purchasing power along three sites, where Saemaul Zero Hunger Communities (SZHC) project is implemented, to gather enough evidence for further strategic decisions. The central question for the assessment was: Do beneficiaries have enough purchasing power to cover their basic food needs in line with their income from the project activities and food prices? Key issues investigated in the assessment include policies and regulatory environments, meal composition, commodity quality, availability and affordability of food commodities, infrastructure, price levels and trends.
