Summary
This document describes WFP’s approach to building resilience by strengthening the capacities and livelihoods of vulnerable, food‑insecure communities facing recurrent shocks. Asset creation is highlighted as a core strategy that links emergency assistance with long‑term development to protect gains and reduce future risks. WFP supports resilience by helping households and communities manage risks by investing in livelihood assets, forging complementary partnerships, improving nutrition, reinforcing institutional capacities and systems, and providing policy support. Given that many vulnerable populations live in degraded and hazard‑prone environments, Food Assistance for Assets (FFA) programmes—using food, cash, or vouchers—provide immediate food security benefits while restoring natural resources and enhancing long‑term resilience, contributing to the Zero Hunger Challenge.
