Résumé
Armenia, a lower‑middle‑income and net food‑importing country, remains vulnerable to external shocks. Despite reforms, economic growth has been uneven, public debt is rising, and malnutrition persists, with 19% of children stunted and 15% of the population food insecure. WFP’s Development Programme (DEV 200128), launched in 2010, provides school meals to primary students and is being gradually handed over to the Government. Three provinces have already transitioned, and further handovers are planned through 2019, supported by new government institutions and a forthcoming national school meals policy. Armenia has established SDG oversight mechanisms, and WFP is supporting SDG 2 efforts through the National Strategic Review. The Transitional Interim Country Strategic Plan focuses on one outcome: enabling the Government to fully manage and deliver nutritious, locally sourced school meals nationwide by 2023. This aligns with SDG 2 and contributes to broader poverty, health, education, gender, and capacity‑strengthening goals, in line with national development strategies and the UNDAF.
