ملخص
Senegal, classified as both an LDC and LFDC, continues to face serious food and nutrition challenges. Global Acute Malnutrition rates in the north and east are near or above the emergency threshold, and while national stunting rates have declined, they remain high in the south and east. Education outcomes also lag, with a primary completion rate of only 66.7 percent. Although Senegal is committed to the 2030 Agenda and to achieving Zero Hunger, progress is hindered by climate risks, limited access to land—especially for women—unsustainable farming systems, and weak market opportunities for poor smallholder farmers. The Transitional Interim Country Strategic Plan (T‑ICSP) is derived from WFP’s Protracted Relief and Recovery Operation (PRRO) 200681 and Country Programme (CP) 200249, and supports national priorities under the Plan Sénégal Emergent, sectoral strategies, the UNDAF, and SDGs 2 and 17. The plan strengthens alignment with national strategies, promotes convergence across sectors, and prioritizes gender‑transformative approaches. The T‑ICSP focuses on four strategic outcomes: ensuring year‑round access to food and nutrition for vulnerable populations including schoolchildren; improving the nutritional status of young children and pregnant and lactating women; enhancing livelihoods and resilience of food‑insecure smallholders and communities; and strengthening national and subnational capacity to manage food security and nutrition programmes. It contributes to WFP Strategic Results 1, 2, 3, and 5.
